Hug Me Tight by Aishah Elusogbon

Hug me, please.
Hug me tight
Let me bury my
face in your chest As you
block my ears with your
palms.
Press a kiss every
single minute on my
tangled hair .
Let my tears be
Swallowed up by
The thickness of
Your shirt.

Let your heartbeat
Drown the
conflicting sounds of
The boom of the
Fireworks celebrating
The new year and
The kaboom of the
Bombs tearing apart
Brains and intestines
In Gaza.

Hug me, please.
Hug me tight.
