Urgent Plea For Action To Alleviate The Suffering In Nigeria
To the President,
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces,
Federal Republic of Nigeria,
With a blend of joy and sorrow in my heart, I write to you, sir.
It is a fact that millions of Nigerians placed their trust in you by casting their votes. Nigeria, our beloved nation, is abundantly blessed, with nearly 99.9% of its resources yet to be harnessed. Past and present leaders can attest to the nation's vast potential. While the world recognizes us as the "Giant of Africa," we are akin to a lion that has yet to roar in its full might.
As I reflect on a verse from the Qur'an, it resonates with our current situation:
"And Allah sets forth a parable: (Consider) a town safe and secure to which its means of subsistence come in abundance from every quarter; but it became ungrateful to Allah's favors, therefore Allah made it taste the utmost degree of hunger and fear because of what they wrought." (Q16:112)
Nigeria, too, is showered with blessings from all directions, but we find ourselves in dire straits. Our forefathers fought valiantly, investing their money and blood to secure our independence. Today, our nation grapples with hunger, unemployment, and despair. Graduates roam jobless, students yearn for a future, and the desperate turn to extreme measures for survival.
I implore you, dear President, chosen by Allah to lead us for another term, to fulfill your promises. People are suffering, families are struggling, and hope is dwindling. We, as a nation, must be willing to change our course. I urge you to wield your power and resources to make a difference.
Remember, today you lead, but tomorrow others will follow in your footsteps. May Allah grant you the strength and wisdom to fulfill your promises, guiding our nation towards the promised land.
May you be blessed with good health and longevity as you steer our nation to a brighter future.
Sincerely,
[Mutohhir Abdulhamid Olanrewaju]
