Okay? by Aishat Elusogbon

You're lying on your bed
Staring at the ceiling
Thinking, wondering
When it will stop
Or better yet;
When it will start.

You've been praying, crying
Hoping, wishing
You've knocked every door
Pulled every string
But it seems like
You'll never realize this dream

You're tired now,
Exhausted
You don't want to lose
The hope you have left
But it's fading slowly
You're hanging on
But it's slipping steadily

Does He notice?
Is He there?
Will He do it?
Does He care?

High up
He sits there
Watching
Like One in charge
Listening
Silently observing
Like a teacher
Studying a student
Taking a test.

Hang in there, You.
Every prayer said
Every tear shed
Every mental scream
Every wall kicked
Has been duly noted

Hang in there, okay?
It will come true
When it's best to.
In the meantime,
Pray
Trust
Wait

Okay?
