A Shattered Trust by Latifah Adelani Omolade
My life is like a shattered piece of trust,
Neither can I ever imagine if it can once again be together as one.
A day to reckon with,
A life to resonate with,
The streets with their gleaming beasts,
A happy life now filled with guilt.
My true self I miss,
My happy self in it's lonely shell,
Walking all day hoping one day it will be well,
Oh yeah,
How I wish I could tell.
The tomorrow is now,
The future they say paints a beautiful picture
A voice needs to be heard by all,
The one loud voice with the most primal affluence of joy
A dream oh ye I see,
Deep within me, I yearn for that need to be free,
Oh free,
To flee from everything all that once hurts and its pain still lingers the more,
Shall I convey to you, the world of the timid one,
The hopeless one who lived his life in darkness won
Patience they say, every soul should learn from.
I lived, and yet again I died,
No one ever knows I was drowning in denial,
For I have always smiled like everything seems worthwhile.
Freedom alas!
A joyous pang of renewed hope,
Oh, ye I am finally ready,
Ready to be free from the sacred hands of betrayal.
